Can any vet in Quebec treat a bird?

No. Birds have different anatomy, different drug tolerances and different anaesthetic risk from cats and dogs, and many general practices will not see them at all. Phone before you drive anywhere, and say on the phone that it is a bird.

How were these Quebec clinics checked?

Each clinic's website was loaded, the clinic itself had to say in its own words that it treats birds, avian or exotic patients, and the phone number was read off that same website rather than a directory. Clinics that failed any of those were left off. Last verified 2026-07-27 or later.

It's the middle of the night and my bird is in trouble.

Call the nearest emergency veterinary hospital even if it is not on this list and ask directly whether they take birds — many take avian emergencies out of hours without advertising it. Meanwhile keep the bird warm, dark and quiet, and do not try to feed or water an injured or collapsed bird.

Avian vets in Quebec

18 clinics across 14 cities that say on their own websites that they treat birds, parrots or exotics.

Always phone first. Hours, staffing and which species a clinic will see change without notice, and the avian vet may only be in on certain days. This list is a starting point, not a guarantee — we are not affiliated with any clinic here and receive nothing from them.

Lost or found a bird in Quebec?

A vet is the right call for an injured bird. If the bird is simply missing, or you have caught one that is not yours, post it so the owner can find you — see lost and found birds in Quebec.
